The Carthage College women's soccer team (3-5, 0-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) opened its CCIW-schedule on Saturday, Sept. 19 with a 5-1 loss to Augustana College (Ill., 6-0, 1-0 CCIW) at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis. The Vikings opened up a 3-0 first-half lead and led, 3-1, at the break. Erin Coulson scored at 13:45, Caitlin Winkelman at 21:40 and Ashley Higuchi at 23:10. The Lady Reds' Michelle Sobey scored at 43:05, but Augustana added a pair of second-period goals by Amanda Bucci at 80:22 and Katie Oakes at 83:48. Carthage travels to Lake Forest, Ill., on Wednesday, Sept. 23 to play Lake Forest College (4-3) in a 4:30 p.m. contest at Farwell Field.
