The Carthage College women's volleyball team (6-0, 0-0- College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked fifth in the Sept. 8 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll, swept both ends of a Friday, Sept. 11 triangular at Wisconsin-Platteville. Carthage shut out Coe College (1-6), 3-0, and blanked Wisconsin-Platteville (3-4), also 3-0. The Lady Reds' winning set scores over the Kohawks were 25-12, 25-13 and 25-14, and their winning scores over the Pioneers were 25-23, 26-24 and 25-19. In the Coe match, Lauren Dembkowski (So., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) had 15 kills and hit. 323, while Michelle Madjea (So., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) had 13 kills and hit .400. In the Wisconsin-Platteville contest, Madeja collected 21 kills and hit .277. Carthage opens its CCIW-schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 15 by playing host to North Central College in a 7 p.m. match at Tarble Arena.
