The Carthage College women's soccer team (3-3, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) lost to St. Olaf College (3-1), 2-1, on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Rolf Melby Field in Northfield, Minn. St. Olaf took a 1-0 halftime lead behind an unassisted goal by Deanne Schmidt at 10:39. The Oles added their second score with an unassisted goal by Catie Christoffel at 55:17. Carthage's Shannon Chesna scored on a penalty kick at 87:06.
On Sunday, Sept. 13, the Lady Reds were shut out by Carleton College (1-3-1), 3-0, at Bell Field, also in Northfield. Carleton took a 1-0 halftime lead on an unassisted goal by Lesley Baseman at 43:20. Lily Vanderstaay scored an unassisted goal at 59:05, and Sarah Haggerty closed out the scoring with a goal, assisted by Linnea Carlson, at 80:45. Carthage plays host to Carroll University (3-0-1) on Wednesday, Sept. 16 in a 7 p.m. contest at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
