Carthage Men's Soccer Comes Up Short in Minnesota

The Carthage College men's soccer team (1-2-3, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) played St. Olaf College (2-0-1) to a 1-1 tie in double-overtime on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Rolf Melby Field in Northfield, Minn.  After a scoreless first half, St. Olaf took a 1-0 lead behind a goal by Tommy Van Wylen, assisted by Blake Dressen, at 55:59.  The Red Men tied the contest with a goal by Tyler Cortez (So., Naperville, Ill./North), assisted by Joey Zillisch, at 86:17. 
 
On Sunday, Sept. 13, the Red Men lost to Carleton College (2-2), 1-0 in overtime, at Bell Field, also in Northfield.  Carleton's Tim Wills broke a scoreless tie with at 90:57 when he corralled a rebound and connected on a shot to the left side of the net.  Carthage plays host to Robert Morris University (Ill., 1-5) on Wednesday, Sept. 16 in a 5 p.m. contest at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
