Carthage Women's Soccer Outlasts Dubuque, 2-1 in OT, on Sept. 30

The Carthage College women's soccer team (5-6, 0-2 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) outlasted the University of Dubuque (8-3), 2-1 in double-overtime on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at the Oyen Soccer Field in Dubuque, Iowa.  The Spartans were ranked 10th in the Sept. 29 National Soccer Coaches Association of America North Regional poll.  Dubuque took a 1-0 first-half lead on a goal by Sara Fassbinder, assisted by Emily Azinger, at 12:46.  Carthage's Katy Rosenbrook (So., Woodbury, Minn.) knotted the score with a penalty-kick goal at 54:56.  After the two teams played through a scoreless overtime period, the Lady Reds' Rachel Jason (Fr., Deerfield, Ill.) scored the game winner, assisted by Sarah Scardamaglia, at 112:52 in the second overtime.  Carthage travels to Wheaton, Ill., on Friday, Oct. 9 to take on CCIW-opponent Wheaton College (Ill., 10-2, 2-0 CCIW) in a 4:30 p.m. contest at Joe Bean Stadium
