Carthage Men's Soccer Nipped by Dubuque, 1-0, on Sept. 30

The Carthage College men's soccer team (2-5-4, 1-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) lost to the University of Dubuque (8-1-2), 1-0, on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at the Oyen Soccer Field in Dubuque, Iowa.  The Spartans were ranked ninth in the Sept. 29 National Soccer Coaches Association of America North Regional poll.  Following a scoreless first half, Dubuque broke the tie with a goal by Ryan Zurbuchen, assisted by Nick McDonald, at 80:56.  The Red Men travel to Wheaton, Ill., on Friday, Oct. 9 to take on CCIW-opponent Wheaton College (Ill.) in a 7 p.m. contest at Joe Bean Stadium,  The Thunder were ranked 17th in the Oct. 6 National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III poll and third in the NSCAA Central Regional poll.
