Michael Schantek joined the Carthage men's and women's track and field coaching staff in the 2021-22 season to work primarily with the sprint events. A 2020 Carthage College graduate, Schantek specialized in the long sprints. Over the course of his career, Schantek accumulated nine all-CCIW honors, including anchoring the indoor track and field conference championship 4x400-meter relay team in 2019. Two weeks later, Schantek anchored the Firebird's first-ever all-American relay team at the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. Schantek is the current 600-meters school record holder, as well as a member of the second and fourth-fastest 4x400-meter relay indoor track and field teams in school history.
