Carthage College Athletics

A four-year starter and two-time team captain, Matthew Pilch brings leadership, experience, and a high-level playing pedigree to the Carthage coaching staff. In the 2023 season, he played in 83 sets across 25 matches, starting in 24 of them. He led the team with 294 kills, added 136 digs, and contributed 32 total blocks. His consistent offensive performance included 15 double-digit kill matches and two double-doubles, with a season-high 21 kills in the IVA Tournament semifinal against Limestone.

His standout season earned him numerous accolades, including two IVA Offensive Player of the Week honors and recognition as the Off The Block National Attacker of the Week. He capped off his collegiate career with a First Team All-IVA selection. Matthew earned his degree in Business Administration and now brings his competitive mindset, strategic knowledge, and passion for mentorship to the next generation of Firebirds.
