Josh Henry enters his 12th year as the Carthage College men's cross country head coach in 2025-26. Henry was an assistant men’s and women’s cross country and track and field coach for five years at the State University of New York-Cortland from 2009 to 2014.
Under Henry's guidance, Carthage finished second at the 2022 CCIW Cross Country Championships, third for 2021 and 2016, and fourth at the 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 conference championships. The 2016 campaign ended with a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Midwest Cross Country Regional.
Henry has coached five United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association Individual All-Academic selections in Michael Von Borstel (2016), Dan Cotton (2016, 2017) and Logan Engberg (2017, 2018). Von Borstel was also named the CCIW Jack Swartz All-Academic award winner for the fall 2016 academic term, while Caleb Jenks earned the same honor for the fall 2015 semester. The program has been named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team each year throughout Henry's tenure.
As part of the SUNY-Cortland coaching staff, Henry was involved in recruiting and coaching nine USTFCCCA All-Americans, 14 national qualifiers, five national cross country qualifying teams, one individual Atlantic Region cross country champion, 33 all-region honorees and 119 State University of New York Athletic Conference scorers in track and field.
Henry attended SUNY-Cortland and earned USTFCCCA All-America honors in 2008 as a member of the Red Dragon’s national-championship team. He was also a three-time all-conference honoree in track and field, a three-time national qualifier in the 10,000-meter run, a two-time national qualifier in the 5,000-meter run and a three-time USTFCCCA all-academic pick.
Henry received his bachelor’s degree in sport management from SUNY-Cortland in 2009 and a master's degree, also from SUNY-Cortland, in sport management in 2010. He is a USA Track & Field Level I certified coach, a USTFCCCA Endurance Event Specialist and holds a certification as a USTFCCCA Strength & Conditioning Coach.
