Tyler Wollberg completed his fifth season over two stints as Carthage head women's golf coach in 2018-19. He returned to Carthage in 2017-18 after serving in the same capacity for two and one-half seasons in 2012-14.
Wollberg’s five-year tenure with Carthage includes back-to-back College Conference of Illinois Women’s Golf Championships in 2013 and 2014. During his tenure, he coached one Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American, four WGCA all-region players and three CCIW individual champions.
Wollberg was inducted into the Carthage Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015 as a member of the 2006-09 Red Men golf teams. During his playing days, Wollberg was a medalist at the 2006 CCIW Men’s Golf Championship his freshman year. As a sophomore, he finished second at the 2007 conference championship and earned National Golf Coaches Association of America second-team All-America honors with a 13th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship.
He tied for first place at the conference championship in 2008 and was a repeat NGCA second-team All-America pick with a 15th-place tie at the national championship. As a senior in 2009, he finished second at the conference tournament and was named NGCA third-team All-America.
Wollberg set a Carthage record for lowest one-day score with a 65 at the Sept. 30, 2007 Wisconsin Lutheran Fall Invitational, as well as a record for a two-day score at 135. His season average of 73.1 in 2008 ranks second on the all-time Carthage list, and his career average of 74.38 ranks first.
Wollberg graduated from Carthage in 2009 with a bachelor’s in exercise and sport science. He received his master’s in education, with a focus on classroom guidance and counseling, also from Carthage, in 2013. Wollberg was elected to a Class “A” Member of the PGA in February of 2013 and has been Titleist Performance Institute certified since 2017. Wollberg also serves as the first assistant professional at the Kenosha Country Club. He has held positions ranging from director of player development and general manager/head golf professional throughout his professional career. Wollberg also served as an adjunct professor in the exercise and sport science department at Carthage.
