Mike Scardina begins his first year as a part-time assistant coach in 2013-14. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Scardina attended Central Methodist University and graduated in 1976 with a bachelor's in business administration. He was inducted into that school's athletic hall of fame in 2011 for his accomplishments in football and track and field.

He went on to a 36-year career with the Allstate Insurance Company, serving as chief financial officer for operations and information technology and chief executive officer of Allstate Northern Ireland, a division Scardina started in 1998. While at Allstate, he created the "Allstate Good Hands Award," a weekly honor for outstanding athletic performance. In 2008, Scardina was honored by Great Britain with an Officer of the of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his service to economic development in Northern Ireland.

He retired from Allstate in 2013 and now lives in Vernon Hills, Ill. Scardina is an avid golfer, has won multiple amateur events and has competed in the Irish Open and the British Senior Open.
