Biography
2011: Finished 11th in the hammer throw (185-10) at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship…won the hammer throw (Carthage-record 196-2) at the CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championship and finished seventh in the shot put (41-1 ¼)…finished sixth in the weight throw (56-6) at the CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championship…set a Carthage indoor record in the weight throw (60-4 ½) at the March 4 “Gill Last Chance Invitational.”
2010: Finished seventh in the hammer throw (187-1) at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship and earned NCAA All-America honors…won the hammer throw at the CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championship (NCAA-automatic and Carthage-record 191-7 1/2, while finishing ninth in the shot put (46-10 ¼)…earned NCAA All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in the weight throw (59-9 ¾) at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship…finished second in the weight throw (59-4) at the CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championship…named CCIW “Indoor Athlete of the Week” on Feb. 2 after setting a Carthage indoor record and winning the weight throw (57-3) at the Jan. 30 “Tadd Metzger Invitational”…won the hammer throw (183-5) and finished third in the shot put (46-1 ½) at the Wisconsin Private College Outdoor Championship.
2009: Tied for second place in the hammer throw (171-9) at the CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championship and finished seventh in the shot put (46-4)…finished third in the weight throw (51-4 ½) and eighth in the shot put (46-10 ¼) at the CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championship.
2008: Finished sixth in the hammer throw (149-9) at the CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championship…finished ninth in the shot put (43-8 ½) and 10th in the weight throw (44-3 ½) at the CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championship.
High School: Lettered three times in track and field and earned All-Western Sun Conference honors as a junior…coached by Peter Raak…in football, named all-conference, Daily Herald all-area, Kane County Chronicle all-area, and Aurora Beacon-News all-area both his junior and senior years… National Honor Society member, academic all-state, Western Sun Conference all-academic and three-year honor student.
Personal: Exercise and sport science major…linebacker on the 2007-10 Carthage football teams…his uncle, Larry Frey, played basketball at Illinois-Chicago and is a member of that school’s athletic hall of fame…named 2009-10 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association scholar-athlete…named winter 2010 and fall 2010 CCIW/Jack Swartz All-Academic…named to the Carthage dean’s list three times and a six-semester member of the Carthage athletic director’s honor roll…born Oct. 12, 1988.
