Biography
2010: Took third place in the long jump (23-7 ½) at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship and earned NCAA All-America honors…won the long jump (23-7 ¼) at the CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championship, while finishing second in the 200-meter dash (22.36) and fourth in the 100-meter dash (10.96) at the CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championship…also part of a conference-champion 1,600-meter relay team…named CCIW “Track and Field Athlete of the Week” after finishing eighth in the long jump (season-best and NCAA-provisional 23-2) at the Drake Relays…Brown was Carthage’s first-ever individual invitee to the prestigious national event…earned NCAA All-America honors for the second-straight year with a sixth-place finish in the long jump (22-9 ¼) at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship…named the “track athlete of the meet” at the CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championship with his third-straight conference title in the long jump (22-9)… also finished second in the CCIW indoor 200-meter dash (22.47), sixth in the triple jump (43-0 ¼) and part of a championship team in the 1,600-meter relay… named CCIW Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week after becoming an automatic qualifier in the long jump at the Jan. 16 Private College Invitational (Carthage-record 23-7 3/4)…finished first in the long jump (meet-record 23-10 ¾) at the Wisconsin Private College Outdoor Championship.
2009: Qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the long jump but did not reach the finals…won the long jump (23-1 ¼) at the CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championship and finished second in both the 100-meter dash (11.12) and the 200-meter dash (22.45) and 11th in the triple jump (41-8 ½)…won the indoor long jump six times in nine different weekend events, taking first place at the Jan. 10 Carthage Opener, the Jan. 24 Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational, the Jan. 31 Carthage “Tadd Metzger Invitational,” the Feb. 21 Wisconsin-Stevens Point “East Bay Invitational,” the Feb. 27-28 CCIW Indoor Championship and at the March 6 Carthage “Gill Athletics Last Chance Invitational”…earned NCAA All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in the long jump at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship…won the long jump (23-1 ¼) at the CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championship, while finishing fourth in the 200-meter dash (22.78), fifth in the triple jump (44-2 ½) and seventh in the 55-meter dash (6.69).
2008: Finished 10th in the long jump (22-1) at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship…won the long jump (23-4) and finished sixth in the 200-meter dash (22.53) at the CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championship…qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship in the long jump and finished 12th (22-1)…won the long jump (23-0 ¾) at the CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championship, while finishing fifth in the 200-meter dash (22.85)…set a Carthage indoor record in the long jump (23-2) at the March 7 Carthage “Gill Athletics Last Chance Invitational”
2007: Finished fourth in the long jump (22-3 ½) and ninth in the high jump (5-8 ¾) at the CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championship¼finished third in the 200-meter dash (22.98) at the Wisconsin Private College Outdoor Track and Field Championship…finished second in the high jump (6-2 ¼), fifth in the long jump (21-0) and seventh in the 200-meter dash (23.10) at the CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championship.
High School: Earned all-state honors three times in the 400-meter relay, the 800-meter relay and the 1,600-meter relay…three-time All-Upstate 8 Conference honoree in the long jump…coached by Mike Kennedy…member of the soccer team his freshman year.
Personal: Exercise and sport science major…named to the winter 2008 Carthage athletic director’s honor roll…his father, Charlie Brown, was inducted into the Lehigh University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009 and graduated as the Mountain Hawks’ career scoring leader…born Feb. 1, 1988.
