Carthage College Athletics

Andy Bax begins his fifth year as a part-time assistant coach in 2017-18.  Bax was previously the head women’s water polo coach for four seasons, from 2011-2015.

A native of Naperville, Ill., and an all-state high school swimmer and water polo player at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, Ill., Bax was a four-year member of the Carthage swimming team between 2006 and 2009.  He earned All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin honors three-straight years from 2007 to 2009.  Bax held the Red Men’s record in the 50 freestyle and was part of school-record relay teams in the 200 medley, the 200 freestyle and the 400 freestyle.  He was named 2008 and 2009 College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American. 

Bax graduated in 2010 with a bachelor’s in elementary education and special education.
