Biography
2011: Finished second in the 100 backstroke (5213), fourth in the 200 backstroke (1:56.64) and ninth in the 200 freestyle (1:45.20) at the CCIW Swimming Championship…part of a conference-championship team in the 800 freestyle relay.
2010: Finished sixth in the 100 backstroke (52.82), seventh in the 100 butterfly (53.57) and seventh in the 200 backstroke (1:58.66) at the CCIW Swimming Championship.
2009: Finished second in the 100 backstroke (52.75) and sixth in the 200 backstroke (2:00.74) at the CCIW Swimming Championship…part of conference-championship 200 medley relay team…finished second in both the 100 backstroke and the 200 backstroke at the Wisconsin Private College Championship…an NCAA “B” qualifier in the 100 backstroke.
2008: Finished third in the 100 backstroke (54.10), third in the 200 backstroke (1:58.60) and 11th in the 50 freestyle at the CCIW Swimming Championship (22.46) and part of a conference-champion relay teams in both the 200 and the 400 medley…won the 100 backstroke at the Wisconsin Private College Championship.
High School: Finished ninth in the 100 backstroke at the Missouri State High School Activities Association state championship his senior year and part of a school-record 200 medley relay team…coached by Sharron Wasson and coached by Rob Laux at the Rockwood Swim Club…three-year water polo letterwinner…honor student.
Personal: Graphic design major…named a 2010 College Swimming Coaches Association of America honorable mention Scholar All-American…named to the spring 2010 Carthage dean’s list and a two-semester member of the Carthage athletic director’s honor roll…son of Tim and Donna Varner…born Feb. 20, 1989.
