NEW! Mini Water Polo Lessons

Mini Water Polo is designed to help young swimmers, ages 5–12, transition from foundational swimming skills into the exciting world of water polo. Offered through the Carthage Lessons Program, these lessons combine water safety, swimming skills, and an introduction to the fundamentals of water polo in a fun and supportive environment.

Participants will build confidence in the water while learning basic water polo skills such as passing, shooting, ball handling, movement, and positioning. Through games and interactive activities, swimmers will have the opportunity to explore a new sport while continuing to develop strong swimming and water safety skills.

Lesson Format: Four 45-minute lessons
Prerequisite: Completion of Carthage Swim Lesson Level 4 or be able to:

Swim 25 yards freestyle + 25 yards backstroke without stopping
Perform breaststroke kick for 10 yards
Tread water for at least 30 seconds

Payment: Each session is $130/per student. There is a multi-student discount available: $130 for first student, $120 for any additional family member. Please note, due to the high volume of interest there will be NO refunds. Payment is due within five days of email confirmation of time slot.

Required Documents: Parents and/or legal guardians are required to complete and return the Carthage College Swimming Lesson Liability Waiver Please sign and submit with full payment according to the registration instructions below.

Registration: Registration will open on Tuesday, August 11th at 7 am and only be accepted through google forms. A link will be posted here on the day of registration. Registrations via phone or email will be considered AFTER all Google form registrations. The following info will be asked on the online registration form: student name, age (the youngest we take is 3 years old), and level (1-6); guardian name and contact phone number; days you would like to register, and first, second and third choice of time slots. You will receive a confirmation email with your time slot. Confirmation within five days. Payment (check or cash) will be due within five days from confirmation of registration. Receipt of payment will complete registration and hold your spot(s). Checks should be made out to "Carthage College" and mailed with signed liability waiver by the guardian of the student participating in the Carthage lessons program.

Parking and Entrance: Parking is available in the south lower lot (P8 on map) which is off of Sheridan Road. Due to events on the campus, parking lot may be full and other lots may be used. Individuals can enter through the south lower doors of the TARC which are available under the "Home of the Firebirds" sign, walk straight and go passed the rock climbing wall. The pool entrance will be just to your right. There is bleacher seating on the pool deck for families during the lesson.

Equipment needed: Please bring a well-fitted, comfortable swimsuit and towel. Swim caps and goggles are encouraged, but not required.

Session 2:
Dates: September 21st-October 8th, 2026
Days: Mon/Wed OR Tues/Thurs
Times: 5:50-6:20 pm, 6:20-6:50 pm, 6:50-7:20 pm

Sunday ONLY session:
Dates: September 13th-October 4th
Times: 2-2:45 pm, 2:45-3:30 pm

**Lessons are at days and times noted above and there WILL NOT be makeup lessons. Please thoroughly check the dates you are interested in prior to registering your child(ren), so there is no schedule conflicts.This is greatly appreciated!
