Carthage College Athletics

2012:  Won the 200 breaststroke (2:08.29) at the CCIW Swimming Championship, while finished fifth in the 400 individual medley (4:13.59) and seventh in the 500 freestyle (4:47.63).

2011:  Won the 200 breaststroke (2:08.35) at the CCIW Swimming Championship, while finishing fourth in the 400 individual medley (4:15.23) and ninth in the 200 individual medley (2:00.61).

2010:  Finished second in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.57) and eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.91) at the CCIW Swimming Championship and fourth in the 400 individual medley (4:15.82).

2009:  Finished fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:11.35) and seventh in the 400 individual medley (4:18.94) at the CCIW Swimming Championship…finished third in the 200 butterfly, the 400 individual medley and the 500 freestyle at the Wisconsin Private College Championship…ninth-fastest Carthage time in the 200 breaststroke and 10th-fastest time in the 400 individual medley.

High School:  Earned second-team Eastern Valley Conference honors his senior year…honorable mention all-conference as a junior…coached by Dale Burghardt…coached by Jay Coleman for Oshkosh YMCA club team and a six-time summer YMCA national qualifier…also a member of his high school’s soccer team…National Honor Society member, winner of an “outstanding scholar-athlete” award, four-year high honors student and graduated with honors.

Personal:  Biology major …younger brother of Alex Van Huis, who lettered on the 2007-10 Carthage swimming teams and son of John and Suzanne Van Huis…named to the Carthage dean’s list six times and a four-semester member of the Carthage athletic director’s honor roll… born June 22, 1990.
