WEC matches for both RL and Marvel Rivals are not livestreamed on the Carthage Esports Twitch channel. However, supporters are encouraged to visit the Esports Arena or watch matches on a player's Twitch channel to cheer them on when they compete. RL will participate in regular-season action every Monday from now until roughly Nov. 2. Marvel Rivals competes in the regular season every Wednesday until roughly Nov. 4. Both are slated for a 6:00 p.m. CST start time on their off-stream game day.

Fall 2026 WEC Week Two Recap — Carthage RL Red (2-0) vs. University of Wisconsin [UW] Eau Claire Blugolds Varsity Gold (1-1)

On Monday, Sept. 21, Carthage RL Red completed an off-stream, best-of-five series against UW-Eau Claire Blugolds Varsity Gold. Building on their shutout performance in Week One, the Firebirds earned another sweep. Monday's 3-0 victory over the Blugolds slots RL Red into a four-way tie for the No. 1 spot in the regular-season standings. Carthage RL Red, UW-Milwaukee Black Varsity Black, UW-Madison Varsity Red, and UW-Stout Varsity Blue all are 2-0 overall with a 6-0 game record.

RL Red's roster contains a sophomore trio of captain Owen Perry (Kor), Kyle Branski (xray), and Jimmy Prims (ItsSlurp17, aka ThePrimReaper). Within this best-of-five series, Branski, Perry, and Prims competed against UW-Eau Claire Gold players Isc, TrulyItzTony, and Snoop.

In Game One, RL Red secured a 9-1 victory to set the tone. After a minute of back-and-forth ball movement between both teams, Prims approached the Blugolds' goal line and attempted to squeeze the ball past Isc. Although Isc blocked the shot attempt, Branski banged the ball off UW-Eau Claire Gold's left-side wall. As it bounced across the goal line from left to right, Prims followed the pattern and shot it over the heads of Isc and Snoop for the game's first score (3:49).

On the preceding kickoff, Branski pushed the ball toward midfield, but Isc halted its momentum. As Isc took advantage of the space, Snoop instinctively grabbed the left-side boost near UW-Eau Claire Gold's net. However, Prims immediately challenged Isc, pinched the ball away, and carried it into the Blugolds' net with no defender in sight as Snoop left his position to grab the boost (3:39).
Next, TrulyItzTony established aerial ball control to boost past Perry. However, Branski cut the ball's momentum near his own goal line, which forced Isc and Snoop into an awkward position. Then, Perry rotated behind Branski, kicked the ball into open space, and sliced a ground shot past Snoop to give RL Red a 3-0 lead (3:18). For the remainder of Game One, RL Red scored three more unanswered goals before Snoop hit a nice double-tap over Branski (0:53). With the 6-1 lead, RL Red scored three more times to establish a 9-1 victory. Prims led with five goals, Perry scored three times, and Branski once.

For Game Two, RL Red continued to score at a high rate while shutting out UW-Eau Claire Gold, 7-0. It started with a beautiful right-wall pinch center from Branski near the Blugolds' net. This materialized because Prims soared to the ceiling and launched the ball to his right. As the center came through in a right-to-left motion, Perry raced toward the middle of UW-Eau Claire Gold's net and squeaked in an open shot (4:17). About 15 seconds later, Perry etched his name on the scoresheet again. Prims won a contested pinch battle with TrulyItzTony on the left sideline, allowing the ball to ricochet off the Blugolds' backboard and provide Perry with a great shot opportunity. It became easier as Isc and Snoop double-committed, leaving the net vacant for Perry's second goal (4:02).
After some solid defense on the ensuing kickoff from UW-Eau Claire Gold, RL Red became hungry for more goals. Around the 3:30 mark, Prims pinched the ball off a left-sideline wall before TrulyItzTony could get there. Despite Branski and Perry's attempts to center the ball immediately, Isc cleared the ball away. However, Prims bounced the ball from UW-Eau Claire Gold's left-sideline wall to Perry, who positioned himself right by the crossbar. Then, Perry dropped the ball to Branski, who took a lower-left shot on net to complete a triple play (3:15). From there, RL Red scored four more goals to cement the 7-0 shutout. Perry finished with four goals, Branski two, and Prims one.

Lastly, Game Three ended with a 10-0 RL Red victory. It only took 14 seconds for a score to materialize as Branski and Perry overwhelmed the Blugolds' defense. After TrulyItzTony cleared Perry's pogo-flip and Prims' follow-up shot, the ball bounced to Branski, who positioned himself to the right of UW-Eau Claire Gold's net. He then centered the ball for Perry, who came back into the rotation, soared through the air, and threaded a shot between Isc and TrulyItzTony to score (4:46). About 30 seconds later, Prims pushed the lead to two as he hit a gnarly pinch off Isc's car that went in from the left side of UW-Eau Claire Gold's net (4:17). To cement yet another 3-0 cushion, Perry hit a double-tap center to flush out Isc and Snoop, revealing a streamlined path for Branski to knock the ball in (4:05). In the end, Branski finished with four goals alongside three each from Perry and Prims.

As a unit, RL Red recorded 26 goals, 19 assists, 11 saves, 54 shots, and 13 demolitions while shooting 48% from the field. On defense, the Firebirds allowed the Blugolds to score once and force 13 shots on net across the entire best-of-five series. Dating back to WEC Week One vs. Ripon College Black, RL Red's opponents have been limited to shooting 11.1% from the field.

Fall 2026 WEC Week Two Recap — Carthage RL Black (2-0) vs. University of Wisconsin [UW] Whitewater JV Purple (1-1)

On Thursday, Sept. 24, Carthage RL Black completed a rescheduled, off-stream, best-of-five series against UW-Whitewater JV Purple. Despite another reschedule, RL Black controlled the tempo to secure a 3-1 victory. After two weeks of competition, RL Black (2-0, 6-1) is in a three-way tie for fifth place in the Fall 2026 WEC regular-season standings with UW-Milwaukee JV Gold and Marquette University Varsity Navy.

RL Black's roster includes senior captain Penn Gilchrist (Pixlr), senior Lucas Menzer (Joystik), junior Kaliek Wade (Akko), and freshman Ben Lagerhausen (Cosmic). For WEC Week Two in particular, Gilchrist returned to RL Black's starting lineup after missing Week One due to personal reasons. Against Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) Stormers Blue, Lagerhausen had a tremendous debut, going 10-of-18 from the field (56%). Lagerhausen also recorded four assists and six demolitions.

RL Black faced the following UW-Whitewater JV Purple players: Davis, Gomilbrew, and Huday. In particular, Davis and Gomilbrew came from the Wisconsin High School Esports Association (WIHSEA) pipeline, similar to Gilchrist and Menzer.

• Davis represented Fort Atkinson and, during his senior year, his team went 8-0 overall with a 24-0 game record. In the Winter 2023 playoffs, Fort Atkinson reached the Division II grand final and earned a silver banner after a 4-1 loss to Shawano.
• Gomilbrew represented Whitefish Bay and, during his senior year, the Blue Dukes finished 12-2 overall with a 34-6 game record. In the Winter 2026 playoffs, Whitefish Bay earned a bronze banner as Gomilbrew scored an overtime goal to beat Cedarburg 3-2 in a Division I third-place game.
• Gilchrist and Menzer represented Waukesha South and helped the program achieve back-to-back Division I WIHSEA State titles (Spring 2022 – May 14; Winter 2023 – March 18).

The WIHSEA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that promotes scholastic esports through community development, advocacy, equitable participation, and interscholastic competition to enrich the educational experience.

Game One ended with a narrow 2-1 victory for RL Black. Warhawks JV Purple scored first when Huday passed to Gomilbrew (4:21). Shortly after, though, RL Black responded to tie the game 1-1. Wade found the net on a Menzer pass (3:35). After two early goals, the Firebirds and Warhawks engaged in a defensive battle, clearing shots and keeping the game even. Ultimately, neither team hit paydirt before the in-game buzzer echoed for overtime. Within 21 seconds, Wade hit the dagger, giving RL Black a 1-0 lead. In all, the Firebirds logged 10 shots on net compared to six from the Warhawks. Each team recorded six saves, while Wade and Gomilbrew were the main goal scorers.

Game Two ended RL Black's streak of not losing a single "game" within a best-of-five series, as Warhawks JV Purple secured a 3-1 win. To start, Gomilbrew sliced in the first goal after a pass from Huday (3:03). About 29 seconds later, RL Black answered the call to force another 1-1 tie as Menzer linked up with Wade for a score (2:34). However, Warhawks JV Purple held RL Black to only two shots on net from the two-and-a-half-minute mark until time expired. Instead of RL Black winning another come-from-behind game, Huday (1:44) and Gomilbrew, assisted by Davis (0:04), each scored once, providing Warhawks JV Purple with a runway to steal Game Two. In contrast to RL Black, UW-Whitewater logged six shots on net.

With the series tied 1-1, RL Black sensed pressure but responded with confidence to win 2-0 in Game Three. The first three minutes and 16 seconds were reserved for an ongoing defensive masterclass. Within that period, the Firebirds blocked five shot attempts by Warhawks JV Purple, three alone from Wade. On the flip side, UW-Whitewater forced five shots on net, three courtesy of Gomilbrew. For the last minute and 44 seconds, Menzer scored two clutch goals for RL Black. The first was assisted by Wade (1:44) and the second by Gilchrist (0:16). In particular, RL Black broke a 1-1 stalemate after saves by Gilchrist and Wade on shots from Huday and Gomilbrew, respectively. Overall, RL Black's collective seven-save effort propelled them to gain crucial offensive opportunities down the stretch.

The series concluded with a 3-1 Game Four victory for RL Black. Within the opening minute, Gilchrist (4:41) and Wade (4:11) struck gold and assisted each other on respective scores. At roughly the 3:28 mark, Gomilbrew cut the Warhawks JV Purple deficit to one after an assist by Davis. Although Warhawks JV Purple forced four shots on net between Gomilbrew's goal and RL Black's last score (0:42), they found no quality as Menzer and Wade recorded four saves, three by Menzer. Not to mention, Menzer also scored the dagger for RL Black.

RL Black led in these major statistical categories: goals (8-5), assists (6-4), saves (21-18), shots (29-26), demolitions (15-12), and shooting percentage (27.6-19.2). Overall, it was a neck-and-neck best-of-five series with the Firebirds pulling away thanks to late defensive momentum established in Game Three.

Fall 2026 WEC Week Two Recap — Carthage Marvel Rivals (1-1) vs. Marquette University Varsity Navy (0-2)

On Wednesday, Sept. 23, Carthage Marvel Rivals completed an off-stream, best-of-five series against Marquette University Varsity Navy. In contrast to Week One, the Firebirds established momentum early, never wavered, and achieved a 3-0 sweep. With their victory, Carthage Marvel Rivals (1-1, 4-3) sits ninth out of 14 teams in the regular-season standings.
The Marvel Rivals roster for WEC Week Two included junior Adam Hollis (Hollister09) alongside freshmen Jacob Cooper (Void), Hayden Nelson (Hazzick), Matthew Santiago (Lumen), Michael Santiago (Vader), and Anna Westbrook (BambeeBirdie).

Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play, third-person, 6v6 team-oriented hero shooter developed by NetEase Games and Marvel Games. Players select renowned Marvel heroes and villains to engage in fast-paced, dynamic matches.

In the WEC, teams compete in three game modes: Convoy, Convergence, and Domination.

• Convoy is an escort mode in which one team pushes a payload cart along a designated path to reach a final point. The opposing team must defend the route and prevent the cart from moving forward before time expires.
• Convergence is a hybrid mode that mixes elements of Domination and Convoy. Teams initially fight to seize a control point, which then unlocks a payload cart that the attackers must escort through the map.
• Domination is a classic King-of-the-Hill mode in which two teams fight to control and hold a central point on the map. The first team to fill its progress bar to 100% wins the round, and this process repeats throughout a best-of-three format.

Marvel Rivals also includes three specific in-game character roles: Duelist, Strategist, and Vanguard.

• Duelists are the primary damage dealers focused on securing eliminations and outplaying the enemy team. They generally have lower health pools and rely on strong positioning or precise aim.
• Strategists help keep teammates alive, provide buffs or utility, and stabilize team fights from the backline.
• Vanguards act as the frontline and backbone of a team composition. They use large health pools and damage mitigation abilities to absorb enemy fire, control objectives, and create space.

For Carthage primarily, Hollis and Michael Santiago are Vanguards; Nelson and Matthew Santiago are Duelists; Cooper and Westbrook are Strategists. However, the team composition is flexible, and players do swap roles from time to time.

For Game One, the Firebirds and Golden Eagles competed on Krakoa for the Domination game mode. In the end, Carthage secured a 2-0 victory. Krakoa is a fast-paced map set during the mutant Hellfire Gala. It is divided into three distinct zones—the Cradle, the Grove, and the Carousel—and features a unique network of colored, dynamic portals that open during matches to grant immediate high-ground access and quick flank routes. In the best-of-three Domination game mode on Krakoa, the Firebirds fully captured two points in a row without significant interference from the Golden Eagles. Carthage's best all-around player was Cooper, who finished 14-1-22 (Kills-Deaths-Assists), complemented with 2,295 damage and 17,539 healing as a Strategist.

In Game Two, Carthage kept its momentum and secured a 1-0 Convergence victory on Hall of Djalia. It is an Afrofuturist payload-escort map set in the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda. It features a heavily vertical layout with elevated platforms, tight flank routes, and a central chokepoint where attackers try to guide a Chrono-Vibranium statue to heal a dimensional rift, while defenders attempt to stop them. Michael Santiago was Carthage's best-performing player, finishing 15-0-1 (Kills-Deaths-Assists), complemented by 10,332 damage forced and 9,628 damage mitigated as a Vanguard.
Game Three ended in a 1-0 Convoy victory for the Firebirds on Yggsbard: Yggdrasill Path. This is an asymmetrical map where players escort a chariot beneath the radiant, towering roots of the World Tree. The layout flows from a wide-open initial courtyard into a vertical mid-map chokepoint lined with elevated balconies, ending in a tight, curved final stretch. Its defining feature is a unique environment-repairing mechanic that automatically rebuilds shattered Asgardian structures, altering line-of-sight coverage as the game continues.

Overall, Carthage reached the endpoint on offense and locked down Marquette on defense. Statistically speaking, the Firebirds outmatched the Golden Eagles in eliminations (65-7), assists (38-4), and total damage forced (61,075). This significant disparity depicts that Cooper, Hollis, Nelson, the Santiago twins, and Westbrook held their ground well and took out Marquette University in almost every team fight. Game One's best-performing player was Nelson, who went 13-0-0 (Kills-Deaths-Assists), logged eight final hits, and forced 15,509 damage as a Duelist.
