Carthage College Athletics

ST. PETER, Minn. – The Carthage women's tennis team competed in the 2026 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Tournament at Gustavus Adolphus from Friday through Sunday. The Firebirds were led by Valentina Huesca, who came away with a weekend record of 7-1 and claimed a tournament title at the Gustie Invite portion of the weekend.

 

ITA SINGLES BRACKET

First Round
Niki Manojlovic fell to Ashley Adkisson (Wis.-Whitewater), 6-3, 6-4. Greta Peterson dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Lisey Langhus (Bethel). Kamila Dobija defeated to Marie Pelletier (St. Catherine), 5-7, 6-4, (10-7), while Rya Arreazola dropped an 6-1, 3-6, (11-9) decision to Kayla Surpless (Grinnell).

Second Round
Dobija fell to Lauren Lindow (Wis.-La Crosse), 6-4, 6-1.

GUSTIE INVITE SINGLES

Draw 8
Jordan Miller advanced past Morgan Milan (Wis.-Stevens Point), 7-6 (7-3), 5-3, before defeating Gabby Schmidtmann (Edgewood), 4-0, 4-2, in the quarterfinals. Miller's run ended in the semifinals against Mia Franke (Carroll), 4-0, 4-0.

Draw 10
Valentina Huesca opened with a 0-4, 4-0, (13-11) win over Kaitlyn Narkis (Edgewood). Huesca then defeated Emma Murphy (Central), 2-4, 5-3, (10-5), in the quarterfinals before defeating Georgia Haddorff (Wis.-Stevens Point), 4-0, 5-3, (10-2), in the semifinals. Huesca captured the Draw 10 championship with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) victory over Erin Tschida (Hamline).

ITA DOUBLES BRACKET

First Round
Rya Arreazola and Greta Peterson fell 8-4 to Lily Jorgenson and Caitlyn Stadter (Wis.-La Crosse). Niki Manojlovic and Kamila Dobija advanced with an 8-3 win over Lauren Gano and Emma Murphy (Central).

Second Round
Manojlovic and Dobija earned an 8-7 (7-1) victory over Kaitlyn Remke and Alex Repplier (Wis.-Whitewater).

Third Round
Manojlovic and Dobija's run came to an end with an 8-1 loss to Lanie Davis and Ella DeYoung (Gustavus Adolphus).

GUSTIE INVITE DOUBLES

Draw 2
Valentina Huesca and Jordan Miller opened with a 7-3 win over Anna Runck and Melanie Gravdahl (St. Catherine). The duo advanced to the semifinals with an 8-3 victory over Erin Tschida and Taylor Copeland (Hamline) before defeating Ava Stritesky and Claire Erdal (Saint Benedict), 8-5, in the semifinals. Huesca and Miller fell 8-3 to Jordan Domnick and Allison Unverzagt (St. Norbert) in the championship match.
