Women's Cross Country Finish Eighth at St. Olaf Invitational

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The Carthage College women's cross country team finished eighth at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday morning at St. Olaf College. The Firebirds scored 192 points in the women's 6,000-meter race, finishing behind meet champion St. Olaf (47), Wis.-Eau Claire (54), Minnesota-Duluth (83), Wis.-River Falls (131), U of Manitoba (163), Wis.-Platteville (183), and Gustavus Adolphus (184).

Carthage scored 192 points to place eighth overall in the 18-team field. St. Olaf won the team title with 47 points, followed by Wis.-Eau Claire with 54 and Minnesota-Duluth with 84 points.

Senior Kylie Florance led the Firebirds, placing 24th overall in 23:47.7. Freshman Morgan Capriola followed in 32nd at 23:56.7, while senior Lili Bednarek finished 54th in 24:33.8. Junior Kristin Farabaugh placed 67th in 25:01.6, and sophomore Camryn Lau rounded out Carthage's scoring five in 74th at 25:05.2.

"The team had a great race today," said Head Coach Stephanie Domin. "We were aggressive from the start and set our pace early. I am especially proud of our freshman class, they are getting adjusted to the length of the race and really progressing each week! We are looking forward to coming back to Minnesota in two weeks for the Running of the Cows invite at Carleton College."
