Rettler Earns All-American Honors After a Standout 2025 Season

LOUISVILLE - Clare Rettler of the Carthage softball team has been named First Team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), the association announced Wednesday.

With 169 at-bats this season, collecting 124 hits, 31 RBIs, and 67 runs, Rettler, a junior from Appleton, Wis., led the Firebirds throughout the 2025 season. Rettler collected a .618 batting average to lead the NCAA Division III. Additionally, Rettler leads on base percentage (.646) and is ranked third in stolen bases per game (1.20).

The season brought two different hitting streaks for Rettler. One was a 32-game streak, which tied for sixth all-time in NCAA Division III with Lisa Cancilla of Chapman, who had a 32-game streak in 1996. Rettler's streak ended on April 5, 2025, and started on April 20, 2024, totaling 67 hits during the streak. Two, Rettler collected a 12 consecutive hit streak beginning with a five-for-five day against Augustana on April 5, another five-for-five performance in game one against North Central (April 8), and started game two going two-for-two against the Cardinals. With Rettler's hitting performance, Rettler is tied for fifth all-time at the NCAA DIII level for consecutive hits. Rettler has also claimed All-CCIW First Team honors for the 2025 season.

Additionally, Rettler broke two career Carthage softball program records. One on March 12, Rettler broke the Carthage College softball career stolen bases record. The previous record of 56 was set by Bella Spittler in 2022. Rettler currently has 100 career stolen bases after the 2025 season. Second, on April 8, Rettler broke the Carthage College softball career hits record. The record was previously held by Bryanna Heckel with 175 hits. After the 2025 season, Rettler currently has 213 with 113 games.

The 2025 season was nothing short of historic for Rettler, as the junior continued to dominate by rewriting the Carthage single-season record book. Building on an impressive 2024 campaign, Rettler broke her own records in Batting Average (.618), On-Base Percentage (.646), Hits (94), Stolen Bases (49), and Runs (49).
