Carthage 4, Hope 3
RACINE – The Carthage men's tennis team hosted the Hope Flying Dutchmen at the LifeSport Athletic Club on Saturday morning. It was a strong day for the Firebirds, who took control of the match early in singles play to earn the victory. It was also a milestone match day, as Francisco Silveira earned his 100th career win at Carthage.

 

In singles play, Myles Krzewinski dropped a pair of 6-2 losses to Cooper Nugent. Silveira earned his 100th win with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Ned Curley. Elios Briand earned a #3 singles win over Paul Schneider with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Cooper Ferruzzi defeated Rylan Doden 6-1, 7-6 (7-4). Reigning CCIW Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week Cyriac Cayuela defeated Austin Becksvoort 6-1, 6-4. Finn Morris fell to Karsten Patel 6-2, 7-5. The Firebirds led 4-2 at the end of singles play.

In doubles play, Briand and Krzewinski defeated Becksvoort and Curley 6-2. Marco Czosnyka and Daniel Jaworski dropped a tight 7-6 (7-2) battle against Doden and Nugent. Luca Okino and Miles Whelan fell to Schneider and Elliot Dozeman 7-5.


 
The Firebirds (5-3) will return to action on Monday, March 10 as the team travels to Orlando, Fla. to face Kenyon at 8 a.m. and St. Scholastica at 4 p.m. Carthage men's tennis returns to the LifeSport Athletic Club in Racine, Wis. on Saturday, Mar. 22 to host Lake Forest at 6:45 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
