Carthage 7, MSOE 0
RACINE – The Carthage men's tennis team hosted the MSOE Raiders on Friday evening at the LifeSport Athletic Complex in Racine, Wis. The Firebirds put on a commanding performance, winning eight of the nine matches to claim a 7-0 shutout over the Raiders.

 

In doubles play, Elios Briand and Myles Krzewinski dropped a tight 7-6 (7-4) battle against Andres Mauricio Saavedra and Jo Zhao Chong. In #2 doubles, Cooper Ferruzzi and Francisco Silveira defeated Miguel Lopez and Clark Rue 6-1. Cyriac Cayuela and Finn Morris earned a 6-3 win over Pedro Mendes and Augusto Yamakazi in #3 doubles. The Firebirds claimed two of the three matches to earn a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

In singles play, Krzewinski defeated Mauricio Saavedra 7-5, 1-6, (12-10). Silveira earned a 6-0, 6-2 win in #2 singles. Briand defeated Rue with a pair of 6-1 victories. Ferruzzi defeated Lopez 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 in #4 singles. In #5 singles, Morris earned a 7-5, 6-3 win over Mendes. Cayuela capped off the shutout victory with a #6 singles win over Yamakazi, defeating the Raider 6-1, 6-2.


 
The Firebirds (3-3) will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 23 as the squad heads to Greencastle, Ind. to take on DePauw at 10 a.m. EST.
