EAU CLAIRE - The Carthage women's cross country team traveled to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to compete in the Blugold Invite hosted by UW-Eau Claire on Friday morning. The Firebirds placed 24th out of 36 teams, while
Jessie Pakaski led the Firebirds with a 97th place finish.
The Firebirds came in 24th place with 647 points.
UW-La Crosse won the meet with 117 points, scoring all five runners in the top 35. UW-Eau Claire and Minnesota Duluth placed second and third, scoring 132 and 147. Carleton and Hope rounded out the top 5, scoring 172 and 183.
Pakaski led the Firebirds in 97th place, crossing the line with a time of 24:19.2. Kylie Florance followed close behind, clocking in a time of 24:25.0 and a 104th place finish. Camryn Lau crossed the line next for the Firebirds, in a time of 24:56.3 and a 156th place finish. Natalie Forward placed 186th and finished in a time of 25:24.8. Virginia Litwiller rounded out the Firebirds' scoring with a 194th place finish and a time of 25:29.4.
The Firebirds return to action on Saturday, October 18, as the squad is set to compete in Rock Island, Ill., at the Interregional Invitational, hosted by UW-Eau Claire. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
