Women’s Cross Country Starts 2024 Season With a Third Place Finish

KENOSHA -  The Carthage women's cross country squad opened up their 2024 season at the Vic Godfrey Open on Friday evening. The Firebirds battled through the 4,000 meter course filled with tough terrain, resulting in strong performances to start the fall season.

The Firebirds came in third place with 76 points, scoring all five women in the top 20.

Wisconsin Parkside won the meet with 26 just holding off Marquette with 32 points coming in second. 

Who Led the Way

Kylie Florance led the Firebirds with a 13th place finish in a time of 15:43.95. Claire Guenther came across the finish line next, with a time of 15:48.90 in 16th place. Leela Desharnais finished just behind Guenther in 15:49.80 in 17th place. Jessie Pakaski clocked in at 15:54.42 in 18th place for the squad. Julie Heinrichs finished off the scoring for the Firebirds in 22nd place with a time of 16:18.66.
