MEQUON. – The Carthage women's cross country team competed at the Ken Weidt Classic on the campus of Concordia (Wis.) The Firebirds ran their way to a fourth place finish in the first 6,000 meter race of the season.


 
The Firebirds came in fourth place with 129 points on the team scoreboard.

Wis-La Crosse won the Ken Weidt Classic with 45 points. Lawrence placed second with 51 points, while Concordia finished in third place with 57 points.
 

 
Jessie Pakaski led the Firebirds in today's race, finishing in 23rd place with a time of 24:50.9. Kylie Florance finished in 27th place with a time of 24:54.9. Claire Guenther was the third Firebirds runner to cross the finish line, coming in 32nd place with a time of 25:27.3. Leela Desharnais finished in 25:43, while Kenzie Egert rounded out the scoring five in 26:53.6.



The Firebirds will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 21 in the Gil Dodds Invitational, hosted by Wheaton (Ill.). Action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Ill. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
