EAU CLAIRE, Wis.. – The Carthage men's tennis team closed out the weekend against the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds on Sunday afternoon. It was another strong performance for the Firebirds, who cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Blugolds.

 
 
In doubles play, Elios Briand and Myles Krzewinski teamed up to defeat the Blugolds duo of Hunter Roseth and Colin Chapman 8-4. The Blugolds earned their first point of the day as Francisco Silveira and Cooper Ferruzzi fell to Demetri Bush and Ethan Wurtzil 8-7 (7-3). Luca Okino and Diego Silva defeated the Blugod duo of Ryan Fonseca and Sam Murillo 8-4, giving the Firebirds a 2-1 lead.

In singles play, Silveira defeated Roseth 6-3, 6-0. Kryzewinski got the win over Bush 7-5, 6-4. Briand took home the victory over Otto Schulter 6-3, 6-0. Silva defeated Pablo Rincon. Ferruzzi used a 6-3, 6-4 performance to earn the win over Chapman. Wurtzil got the win over Victor Pimenta 6-1, 6-2 to conclude the match. The Firebirds came away with their second consecutive 7-2 victory.


 
The Firebirds (3-0) will travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 10 to take on Coe at 9 a.m. and UW-La Crosse at 1 p.m. Carthage men's tennis will return home on  Feb. 23 to face Illinois Tech. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
