MEQUON - The Carthage College women's cross country team continued their season at the Wisconsin Private College Championships, hosted by Concordia University Wisconsin. The Firebirds battled hard through the rolling hills of the 6,000-meter course, finishing second out of eight teams. 


 
The Firebirds came in 2nd place with 58 points.

Concordia Wisconsin won the meet with a total of 31 points.
 


Kylie Smith led the Firebirds with a time of 23:39.5 and a 6th-place finish. Jessie Pakaski crossed the finish line right behind Smith in 7th place with a time of 23:52.1. Claire Guenther finished next for the Firebirds in 9th place with a time of 24:16.2. In a time of 24:31.7, Kylie Florance crossed the line in 14th place. Rounding out the Firebirds in 25:29.3, Leela Desharnais finished in 25th place. 
 


"The team had a good race today, we ran well from the start and finished strong. We had multiple season-best times as well which is what we wanted going into the CCIW Championships in two weeks."
 


The Firebirds will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the CCIW Cross Country Championships, hosted by North Park. Action is scheduled to begin at 12:45 p.m. at the St. James Farm Forest Preserve in Warrenville, Ill. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
