"I was impressed by how well the guys stuck to their game plan. They are really starting to understand the key to good golf is in the simplicity of their plan and not straying from that after a bad hole or two. Straying from the plan just makes the game complicated, and it takes some maturity to get that. As young as we are, the maturity in their approach has taken a big step forward," noted Carthage Firebirds director of golf and head men's golf coach
Jay Christiansen.
"It was a beautiful day, ripe for good golf and Alex [Lilly] took advantage of it. His skills and his temperament are catching up to his talent, and today was another step forward."
"294 is a fantastic score and marks the team's best score from both the fall and the spring. When you break 300, the competition starts to take notice. With the CCIW Tournament coming in three weeks, I think we have snuck into the discussion."
- It's the Firebirds' time to host a spring invitational, as Carthage will welcome a number of teams to Meadowbrook Country Club in Racine, Wisconsin this Monday, April 17. A shotgun start is currently scheduled for noon.
