KANSASVILLE, Wis. - The Carthage College Firebirds men's golf team impressed this past weekend at the Midwest Region Classic at Brighton Dale Links, securing a third-place finish among 27 teams. Senior golfer
Jared Christensen shot a blistering 142 (-2)- including a career-low 67 on day one- over the two-day competition to finish second among 146 golfers.

"It was fun to watch Jared [Christensen]," said Carthage director of golf and head men's golf coach
Jay Christiansen. "[Jared] was playing from the middle of the fairway, hitting his approach shots to the middle of the greens, and making some putts. When he missed the fairway he calmly recovered, and if he missed the green, he barely missed and then was rock solid getting up and down. Never too high, never too low."
"[Christensen's round was] the exact type of round a coach hopes each player sees in their head as the proper way to play ... Great leadership by our fifth-year senior."

- The Firebirds will conclude the fall portion of their 2022-2023 schedule in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin at the UW-Stout Grand Geneva Invite on Sunday, October 2 starting at 1:15 p.m. and Monday, October 3 starting at 9 a.m. The Invite will take place at the Grand Geneva Golf Resort.Â
