MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Carthage men's golf sits in second of eight at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship tournament. Two rounds were played this Friday afternoon at 8 AM and 1:30 PM, with the Firebirds shooting 292 in their first round and 298 in the second to total 590.

Illinois Wesleyan holds first place with 573, and North Park trails Carthage in third by 17 strokes.

Senior Zachary Shawhan led the way for the Firebirds in the opening rounds, carding 71 (E) in his first round and 76 (+5) in the second to shoot 147 (+5) and finish fourth individually.

Tyler Muschewske, Alex Lilly, and Austin Young all tied for seventh place on the leaderboard, shooting mutual scores of 150 (+8). Kevin Healy tied for 15th as he shot 152 (+10), finishing his last 18 holes even with par at 71 (E). Young had the second-lowest round of the day at 72 (+1) in round one.

Round three of the CCIW Championship is set for tomorrow morning at 8 AM at Brown Deer Park in Milwaukee, Wis.
