MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The Carthage men's golf team entered two scorecards into the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Preview this Wednesday afternoon, finishing in first and third place among the five teams in attendance. Due to weather concerns Augustana, Illinois Wesleyan, Elmhurst, Wheaton, and North Central did not participate in the event.

The Firebirds 'A' scorecard shot 295 to take first in the one-round tournament, while their secondary scorecard shot 301 to finish one stroke behind North Park who finished in second.

Senior Austin Young finished in a first-place tie among all golfers alongside Brandon Rowe from Millikin University. Young carded a personal best 71, beating his previous low of 75 he set during the 2021 season.

Senior Tyler Muschewske tied for third place individually after shooting 72. Freshman Alex Lilly carded a personal best 73 to tie for fifth, while seniors Zachary Shawhan and Jared Christensen both tied for eighth place with 75.

Freshman Tanner Angelstad shot 76 to tie for tenth, while Alex Green and Charlie Gneiser carded mutual 77's to tie for 12th. CCIW golfer of the week Kevin Healy shot a 78 to tie for 16th, and Cole Hanson carded an 88 to complete Carthage's scorecards.

The Firebirds host the Carthage Spring Invitational next Tuesday, April 19th at The Kenosha Country Club with a start time of 9:00 AM.
