DEKALB, Ill. — The Carthage women's bowling team began their first round this Saturday afternoon at the College Conference of Illinois & WIsconsin (CCIW) Championship Tournament. The team split two mega matches against Aurora and Carroll, falling 2-0 to Aurora and winning 2-0 against Carroll.

The Firebirds fell 2-0 to Aurora, beginning with a traditional team set with a final score of 860-830. A baker set followed with a score of 890-838.

Carthage eliminated the Carroll Pioneers in their second match of the day, winning their traditional team set 966-873, and their baker set 1017-764.

Carthage will face off against Aurora University in the morning for round two of the Championship tournament, with the winner of tomorrow's contest advancing to take on undefeated Marian University.
