Women’s Bowling Begins Day One at Vanderbilt’s Music City Classic

NASHVILLE, Tn. — The Carthage women's tennis team sits in 27th place after day one of the Music City Classic tournament hosted by Vanderbilt University. The Firebirds went 1-4 on the day in baker matches, dropping a total of 4,305 pins (172.2/game) in a tough field consisting largely of division one and two schools.

The team first faced off against CCIW opponent Carroll University, besting the Pioneers 796-761 to give the Firebirds their sole win for the first day.

Carthage saw Arkansas State University in game two, losing a close contest by only 12 pins at 1016-1004. Alabama State University took game three 865-820, and Sam Houston State University won match four 1050-870.

The Firebirds fell 871-815 in their final match of the day against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Mckendree University currently sits on top of the leaderboard after going 5-0 for the day with 5,300 total pinfall.

Day two of the Music City Classic will begin tomorrow morning, where five traditional games will be played to determine who will advance farther into the tournament.
