NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Carthage women's bowling team began the second half of their season this Saturday afternoon with the opening of the 2022 CCIW Women's Bowling tournament. The team went 3-1 on the day in their four baker matches, ending in a second-place tie with Marian University while trailing Aurora (5-0).

The opening match saw the Firebirds win 911-891 against conference opponent Carroll University, in what was their first round of competitive bowling since early December. The team's only loss of the day would come in round two, as Aurora took the match 922-833 over the Firebirds. Carthage would receive a bye in round no. 3.

The team dominated match no. 4 against Illinois Wesleyan, winning 903-582 before knocking out Elmhurst in the final round of the day 851-790. The only team ahead of Carthage currently is Aurora University, who went 5-0 for the day.

The second round of the 2022 CCIW Women's Bowling Tournament begins tomorrow morning in Naperville, Ill.
