RACINE, Wis. — The Carthage men's tennis team went 2-0 this Saturday as they hosted both Concordia (Wis.) and UW-Lacrosse. The Firebirds remain undefeated at 6-0 for the year.

Daniel Moore and Yanozie Amadike began the day against Concordia Wisconsin with an 8-1 win in doubles. Duos Tripp Schulte/Nicolas Welker and Cooper Ferruzzi/Andre Antreassian followed suit on courts three and two to sweep doubles play.

Welker grabbed the first win in singles play on court four 6-0, 6-2 for the Firebirds, before court two fell to the visiting team. Daniel Moore and Chris Mitev took courts one and three for Carthage, before Nick Marino and Hayden Friese closed out the match at 8-1 in favor of the Firebirds.

Hayden Friese and Chris Mitev opened up doubles play against UW-Lacrosse for the Firebirds' second match of the day with an 8-1 win. Ferruzzi and Antreassian followed on court no. 2 (8-5), before the final court fell to the opposing team.

Mitev opened singles 6-0, 6-1 on court three, followed by Antreassian on court no. 5. Friese won court six, Amadike won the first court, and Marino took his court as well before court two fell to Lacrosse. The team finished 7-2 for their second match of the day.

The Firebirds next match is against University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday, February 19th in Rochester. Minn.
