Carthage Men’s Wrestling Wraps Up CCIW Duals

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Carthage College men's wrestling team participated in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Duals held by CCIW host North Central (Ill.) on Saturday.

After the Firebirds lost to Elmhurst 51-0 in the opening competition of the day, River Rogers won by decision 6-5 against Wheaton (Ill.) then Mason Kochersperger added a sudden victory win as the Firebirds fell 38-6.

Against Augustana (Ill.), Cole Nelson scored a fall at 141 pounds then Kobe Gilbert tacked on a sudden victory 6-4 at 174 pounds but Carthage fell to the Vikings 40-9 in the final match of the day.

Next up, Carthage continues CCIW play facing Lakeland on the road on Friday, January 28 starting at 6:30 p.m.
