JANESVILLE, Wis. — Men's Golf took fourth place after day two of the Edgewood College Fall Classic hosted by Edgewood College. Carthage was tied for first place after day one in the tournament after shooting 300, but dropped down to a fourth place finish after shooting 297 this evening to combine for a score of 597. The host team, Edgewood, would go on to claim the number one position with their total of 593 over the tournament.

Leading the way with a tie for fourth-place on the leaderboard was senior Zachary Shawhan, who shot a 67 on day one, and a 78 today to end with a combined 145. Tyler Muschewske trailed just two spots below him on the top-10 list with his sixth-place tie, after shooting a 75 and 71 respectively to end with a score of 146. Kevin Healy tied for 20th-place, after shooting 152 for the event. Alex Green would total 157 for the tournament, while Jared Christensen would round out the Firebird scorecard with his total of 160.

Carthage's "B" scorecard would end the tournament in seventh-place, with Alex Lilly leading the way for the Firebirds with an 11th-place tie and a total of 148 for the event. Tanner Angelstad would tie for 20th place, with a score of 152. Colton Sigel would chip in for Carthage, shooting a 159 over two days, while Colton Hanson would card a 161. Austin Young wrapped up the scorecard with a 170 for Carthage.

Assistant Coach Jay Christiansen:

"Glen Eris is a very strong test, whether the first tournament of the season or the last. Overall, I think we showed we are going to be extremely competitive and one of the better teams in the Midwest. Four strokes separating first from fourth made it a crazy good tournament and lots of fun to be a part of. Add in the fact that our B group finished sixth, and it made for a weekend that can give us a lot of confidence. I think Zach's first round 67 hints at what he is capable of, and is a testament to the work that he put in all summer. Tyler keeps getting better and is ready to take the next step. Alex Lilly coming in and firing a 70 in his second ever collegiate round is really exciting and opened some eyes. Our depth is evident and is going to create some real competition to get and keep a spot in the top five."

The Firebirds are back in action Next Friday as they host the Carthage Fall Invitational at Randall Oaks Golf Club in Dundee, Illinois.
