JANESVILLE, WI. — The Carthage Men's Golf team began their season this Friday by finishing with a tie for first place after one round at the Culver's Edgewood College Fall Classic at the Glen Erin Golf Club. Both the Firebirds and the host school, Edgewood College, tied for first place heading into round two with total team scores of 300. Wisconsin- Stout and Wisconsin Lutheran both trailed with a third-place tie and scores of 301.

Senior Zach Shawhan led the way for Carthage as he carded a 67 for the day, which placed him first amongst all golfers on the individual leaderboard. Tyler Muschewske ended with a 14th-place finish for the evening with his score of 75, while Kevin Healy tied for 21st with 77. Jared Christensen chipped in for the Firebirds with a score of 81, while Alex Green would round out the scorecard with an 84.

Carthage is back in action again tomorrow morning as they look to push past Edgewood and close the tournament out on top.
