ST. PETER, Minn. — The Carthage men's golf team now sits in third place among the 21 teams at the Twin Cities Classic after jumping up five spots on the team leaderboard this afternoon due to their season-low second round of 295 (+7). They sit just seven strokes behind St. Johns in first place with one round remaining for the event which will be played tomorrow morning.
The majority of the Firebirds' scorecard improved in individual play this evening, with Senior Tyler Muschewske leading the way in third place. Muschewske opened round one yesterday even with par 72 (E), and knocked one stroke off today to card a 36-hole total of 143 (-1). Freshman Alex Lilly matched yesterday's score of 74 (+2) to put him in a 13th-place tie with 148 (+4). Senior Zachary Shawhan climbed 43 spots on the leaderboard this afternoon after shooting just one stroke over par to card a 36-hole score of 153 (+9), Tanner Angelstad shot 77 (+5) both days for the Firebirds, to end with 154 (+10), and Jared Christensen closed out Carthage's scorecard with 157 (+13).
Round three to conclude the Twin Cities Classic hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College is scheduled for tomorrow morning at Elk River Golf Course in St. Peter, Minn.
