WEST DUNDEE, Ill. — The Carthage men's golf team finished in a 12th-place tie this afternoon as they hosted their annual Carthage Fall Invitational tournament at the Randall Oaks Golf Club. The Firebirds shot 300 in the first round of action, and 309 in the second to combine for a total of 609, landing them in a tie with the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Carthage's 'B' scorecard would land in 15th place, shooting 307 yesterday and 309 today to combine for 616 over the event. Aurora University would take first place as they carded 580 collectively over the two-day event.

Zachary Shawhan collected the lowest score for Carthage over the event, shooting 71 (E) in round one and 77 (+6) today to combine for 148 (+6) and placing 22nd. Tyler Muschewske placed second-highest on Carthage's primary scorecard by shooting 76 (+5) and 75 (+4) to total 151 (+9). Alex Lilly carded a 153 (+11), while Kevin Healy and Tanner Angelstad shot 157 (+15) and 159 (+17) respectively to round out the scorecard.

Carthage's secondary scorecard was led by Cole Hanson, who shot 75 (+4) in both rounds of the tournament to total 150 (+8) and nab a 30th-place tie on the leaderboard. Jared Christensen shot 154 (+12), while Colton Sigel and Austin Young both ended with 157 (+15). Alex Green closed out the 'B' scorecard by shooting 159 (+17). The Firebirds also had three extra competitors on their roster playing as individuals. The first of which was Charlie Gneiser, who shot 80 (+9) both days of play to total 160 (+18). Keegan Oberding and Jake Mills both shot 164 (+22).

The next varsity tournament will be September 25 at the Twin Cities Invitational located in St Peter, Minn. The tournament will be three rounds, ending on Monday the 27th, and will be held at The Links at Northfork.
