WEST DUNDEE, Ill. — Men's Golf took eighth place after round one of the Carthage Fall Classic, which they hosted at the Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee, Illinois. The Firebirds combined for a score of 300, while the scorecards of Calvin University and Millikin both landed first-place positions with their scores of 289. Sixteen Teams are competing in the event, including Carthage's 'B' scorecard, which finished in a twelfth-place tie today after shooting 307.

Senior Zachary Shawhan led the way for the Firebirds 'A' scorecard after shooting 71 (E) to land in a fifth-place tie on the leaderboard. Freshman Alex Lilly followed with a 26th-place tie after carding 75 (+4) for round one. Tyler Muschewske shot a 76 (+5), while Kevin Healy and Tanner Angelstad shot a 78 (+7)  and 80 (+9), respectively.

Cole Hanson shot a 75 (+4) to finish in a 26th-place tie for the Firebird's 'B' scorecard. Alex Green and Jared Christensen followed with their mutual 77 (+6). Austin Young shot a 78 (+7), and Colton Sigel would round out the 'B' scorecard with his 79 (+8). Keegan Oberding and Charlie Gneiser competed as individuals today, and both carded 80 (+9). Jake Mills, the remaining individual competitor, shot an 85 (+14).

Round Two of the Carthage Fall Invitational begins tomorrow at 12:30 P.M., as the Firebirds look to improve their play from today and gain some momentum to move up the leaderboard.
