Firebirds Drop Home Doubleheader to Macalester

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College women's water polo team fell to Macalester at home 18-13 and 13-5 in game two on Friday at Koenitzer Aquatic Center.

Macalester (2-0, 2-0 CWPA) got on the board first in game one with two goals before two goals for Carthage (0-6, 0-5 CWPA) tied it at two. After the Scots put in two, the Firebirds added two of their own to bring the game back even at four. With the score locked at eight, Macalester responded with two goals making it 9-7 until a goal from Meghan Fisher shrank the deficit to one. The Scots went on an 8-3 run changing the score to 17-11 as Macalester won the game 18-13.

In the second game of the day, Carthage got on the board first with a goal from Taylor Woitesek until the Scots found the back of the net to tie it at one. The Firebirds added another goal flipping the score to 2-1 early on. Macalester battled back to regain control of the game at 4-3 and went on to take the second game 13-5.

The Firebirds will be back in action on Sunday, April 11 playing Macalester at 2 p.m.
