KENOSHA, Wis. — On the second day of the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Championship, the Carthage College women's water polo team fell to Grove City 17-9 on Sunday at Koenitzer Aquatic Center.
Though Grove City (4-6) scored first to start the game, Carthage (0-10) responded with a goal of their own from Taylor Woitesek to tie it at one. Later, a goal from
Arianna Dakuras saw the game draw even at two. The Wolverines added seven goals before Woitesek found the back of the net to make it 10-3 at the halfway point.
After Grove City put in one to start the third period, Victoria Hodges scored her first goal of the day changing the score to 11-4. The Wolverines tallied a goal however, the Firebirds retaliated with three-straight goals as Dakuras scored two and
Kayli Sayatovic put in one, shrinking the deficit to five. Grove City extended the lead with three goals however, another goal from Dakuras made it 15-8 heading to the final period.
In the fourth, Hodges scored another goal making it 15-9 but Grove City went on to win 17-9.
