LEBANON, Ind. — Carthage men's golf finished in fifth place after their second day at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Invitational which was held at the Trophy Club in Lebanon, Indiana. The Firebirds shot 303 (+15) their first day of play, and 317 (+29) in round two to finish with a total of 620 (+44) for the tournament. DePauw placed first out of the fourteen teams in attendance, with a score of 614 (+38). Carthage trailed fourth-place Transylvania by just two strokes, as they ended with 618 (+42).

Kevin Healy ended in sixth place on the individual leaderboard with a score of 151 (+7) after shooting 79 (+7) in round two. Zachary Shawhan finished with a ninth-place tie and a tournament total of 153 (+9). Alex Green shot 157 (+13), while Austin Young shot 159 (+15), and Tyler Muschewske ended with 162 (+18).

"Overall I am very pleased how we played these past two days," said assistant coach Jay Christiansen. "Our short game has improved tremendously and we did a good job despite tougher weather conditions on the second day. Kevin Healy was fun to watch this tournament, he had a really good weekend. Zach Shawhan also had a very impressive second round of golf after a slower start on the first day."

Carthage travels to Normal, Illinois next Friday as they take on Illinois Wesleyan University at Ironwood Golf Course.
