Women’s Tennis Drops Conference Opener

RACINE, Wis. — Carthage women's tennis fell 6 - 3 in their first conference match against Millikin University this afternoon, which was held at Life Sport Athletic Club in Racine, Wisconsin.

After a loss on court three in doubles play, Sam Ramsey and Rachel Anderson would pick up a 8-3 win on court one. Millikin would finish strong on court two, however, and grab the advantage heading into singles play.

After losses on the first four courts in singles play, Sierra Sonnemaker grabbed a 6-4, 6-3 win on court three. The match concluded with Sam Ramsey winning her sets 7-5, 6-4 on court one. 

"I was happy with the way we competed today," said head coach Brady Lindsley. "We just came up a bit short against a much improved Millikin team."

Carthage is back in action with another CCIW match tomorrow, March 20th, as they host Illinois Wesleyan University at the Life Sport Athletic Club in Racine, Wisconsin at 4 P.M.
