Women's Tennis Picks Up First Win of the Season

RACINE, Wis. — Carthage picked up their first win of the season with a 6-3 victory at home against Milwaukee School of Engineering. 

Sam Ramsey and Rachel Anderson began doubles play with an 8-1 win on court one. After falling short on court two 8-7 (4), the Firebirds would gain the advantage at court three 8-4 led by Emily Krysinski and Kenna Beth and grab the doubles win for the day.

Sophomore Sierra Sonnemaker started off singles play with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 win on court three, followed by another 6-0, 6-0 win on court two courtesy of Rachel Anderson. Sam Ramsey grabbed a win of her own on court one 6-1, 6-1, and Faelan O'Shaughnessy claimed the singles win with her 6-2, 6-0 victory on court four. The Firebirds would drop court six and five, but would finish with a 6-3 overall win over the visitors.

Next Friday, March 19, the ladies take on Millikin University which will be held at Life Sport Athletic Club in Racine, Wisconsin.
