KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College athletic department and esports program announced a brand new partnership with Team Singularity, a professional gaming organization, in order to help extend the reach and opportunities for the Carthage program and their student-athletes.
 
"Carthage College esports is extremely excited to be partnering with Team Singularity and their path2pro program," said Director of Esports Kevin Palmer. "Path2pro takes the existing model of creating experiences and opportunities that Carthage Athletics uses, and amplifies it to a level we never even dreamed of achieving. With this partnership, our student-athletes will have a direct line of sight to furthering their esport careers at both a higher and international level, similar to traditional sports."
 
Team Singularity is a professional gaming organization based out of Copenhagen, Denmark that manages over 100 competitors across 30 countries, competing in nearly a dozen different games. Their 'path2pro' campaign pairs them with clubs and schools across the globe, providing resources for esports athletes, and potential opportunities professionally as well. Carthage becomes one of a small handful of American colleges and universities to offer a relationship with a professional esports organization.
 
"A unique thing that excited us for the partnership is Team Singularity's success in the professional gaming world, and the clarity of what exactly it takes for an athlete to earn a pro contract," said Palmer. "We hope that both programs see growth in their talent pool with this partnership, and in doing so, help grow the industry in the education world even faster."
 
The Firebirds are set to begin their inaugural season this winter, competing in five different games this year.
