FORT ATKINSON, Wis. — The Carthage women's bowling team opened the Warhawk Classic this Saturday afternoon, playing five traditional matches to finish in fifth place out of eight.

The Firebirds went 3-2 on the day in their traditional matches with 4,234 total pinfall (169.4/game), beating Dominican, Whitewater, and Aurora and falling to Quincy and tournament leader Marian University.

The Firebirds are 30 pins out from third place heading into the second day of play tomorrow morning. They will need to finish in the top four after two sets tomorrow to be included in the winner's bracket.
