Men’s Swim and Dive Beats Lake Forest in First Dual Meet of the Season

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College men's swimming and diving team defeated Lake Forest 151-111 in their first dual home meet of the season on Saturday. 

Conner Hwang picked up three individual victories on the day taking the 200-yard butterfly, 200-yard backstroke, and 100-yard butterfly. Paul Busse clocked a winning time of 2:01.10 in the 200-yard individual medley while Ben Keller and Mitchell Mages won the 100-yard backstroke and breaststroke respectively. 

The Firebirds took the top four spots in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle. Adam MoskusGarrett Shuldes, Keller, and Logan Dales took the four spots in the 50-yard freestyle while Moskus, Michael Bartczyszyn, Shuldes, and Jacob Hardt placed first through fourth in the 100-yard event. 

In relay events, Carthage took the first race of the day as Keller, Mages, Hwang and Moskus clocked a first-place time of 1:35.78 in the 200-yard medley relay. Later, Bartczyszyn, Shuldes, Dales and Matt Janovsky won the 200-yard freestyle. 

Carthage will swim in the Calvin Quad Invitational which starts on Friday, November 5 beginning at 6 p.m.

"Lake Forest gave us some amazing races like they always do. We had to get very creative and swim very fast to come away with a win against a great team today. It was inspiring to see the way our team showed up to race and support each other for our first home meet of the season."
